A beacon of knowledge and a hub of intellectual enrichment within the thriving Qatar Foundation for Education, Science, and Community Development. The seeds of this remarkable institution were sown when Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation, unveiled ambitious plans on November 19, 2012, during the 50th-anniversary celebration of Dar Al Kutub Library. This momentous occasion marked the transition from Dar Al Kutub to QNL, signifying a new era in Qatar’s library landscape.

QNL is a multifaceted institution with a noble mission. It serves as a national library, preserving and providing access to global knowledge, including heritage materials relevant to Qatar and the region. Furthermore, it operates as a university and research library, supporting education and research at all levels, and as a modern central public library, catering to the diverse reading interests and information literacy needs of the public.

With its state-of-the-art new building, QNL has also become a vibrant community meeting place, fostering intellectual exchange and cultural exploration. Join us on a journey of discovery, where the past, present, and future converge in the pursuit of knowledge and enlightenment.
