Doha, Qatar | April 21, 2025 — On April 24, 2025, African ambassadors will take center stage at the International Day of Multilateralism and Diplomacy for Peace, held at the UN House in Doha under the theme: “Arabic Language as a Cultural Bridge for African Multilateral Diplomacy.” The event is jointly organized by UNESCO and the Green Zone Foundation (GZF) to celebrate the role of the Arabic language in fostering unity, cooperation, and shared identity across nations.
A central feature of this year’s celebration is the active participation of African embassies, each of which has been invited to contribute to a special workshop by nominating three key national initiatives aimed at integrating the Arab diaspora within their societies. These initiatives will highlight the economic, cultural, and social impacts of Arab communities in Africa, demonstrating how Arabic language and heritage have enriched the African continent’s multicultural landscape.
The inclusion of these case studies will not only enrich the discussions but also offer practical insights and actionable strategies for other communities seeking to enhance inclusion and cooperation. These presentations aim to showcase Africa’s experience with multilateral diplomacy, using language and culture as tools for unity and sustainable development.
The workshop will also explore how such initiatives can be scaled or replicated with the support of UNESCO and GZF, in both Africa and beyond. Through this collaborative effort, the event emphasizes the potential of linguistic and cultural exchange to drive peace, understanding, and effective diplomacy.
By focusing on the Arabic language as a cultural bridge, this gathering underscores the enduring power of shared heritage in shaping a more inclusive and peaceful world.
