Havana, Cuba | December 17, 2024 — Dr. Omeyma Shiakh-eldin Gibril, the representative of the Green Zone Foundation (GZF) in Cuba, has reaffirmed the Foundation’s commitment to deepening cultural ties and fostering interest in the Arabic language and heritage within the Cuban community. In a recent interview with OnCuba News, she highlighted the growing enthusiasm among Cubans to learn Arabic and engage with the broader Arab cultural landscape.

“We have been working closely with the Arab Union of Cuba and the Arab House Museum to attract individuals interested in learning Arabic and immersing themselves in our rich cultural heritage,” Gibril explained. These collaborations have become central pillars of GZF’s mission in Cuba, enabling the Foundation to reach more people and deliver meaningful, community-based educational programs.

Through these partnerships, GZF has been able to host language classes, cultural workshops, and public lectures that not only teach Arabic but also celebrate Arab traditions, art, music, and cuisine. The Arab House Museum, a cultural landmark in Havana, serves as a vital space for these activities, offering visitors a chance to explore the historical connections between the Arab world and Latin America.

Gibril noted that this grassroots engagement helps create a stronger foundation for intercultural dialogue and mutual respect. “By learning the Arabic language, Cubans are not just acquiring a new skill—they are opening a door to centuries of literature, history, and human connection,” she said.

The initiative represents a model of successful cultural diplomacy and continues to expand its impact throughout the region.
